First Steps

In the heart of Coruscant's endless cityscape, the Takla family welcomed Aurren into the galaxy. His birth, under the perpetual twilight of urban lights, was celebrated as the dawn of a new era for Takla Trading. The family's home, a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, buzzed with the energy of a business that connected distant worlds through logistics and transport, yet remained a sanctuary of warmth and love.

Aurren's infancy was marked by his keen observation, his eyes following the dance of airspeeders and the distant gleam of departing starships. His parents, guardians of both a newborn and a burgeoning enterprise, nurtured his growing curiosity with stories of the galaxy's vastness and the intricate web of trade that bound it together. They spoke of Coruscant, not just as a planet of political power, but as the heart of galactic unity, where every culture, language, and dream found its place.

The Takla household was a microcosm of the galaxy's diversity, with visitors from far-flung systems bringing tales of exotic worlds, each story a seed planted in Aurren's imaginative mind. His early play involved models of freighters and starfighters, a tangible connection to the tales that enthralled him. His first words were not just babble but the names of distant planets, spoken with a clarity that surprised all.

Aurren's fifth birthday marked a significant milestone. It was celebrated with a party that mirrored a galactic fair, attended by family friends, business associates, and a few curious droids. The highlight was a holomap gift, displaying the known galaxy. That night, as Aurren traced the glowing paths of trade routes and imagined the ships traversing them, his parents watched, realizing that their son's destiny was intertwined with the stars themselves.

Lessons and Bonds

Aurren's Toy ISD

During his formative years, Aurren's parents, keepers of Takla Trading's legacy, were his first teachers, instilling in him values of hard work, integrity, and the importance of family. Aurren's intellect and curiosity flourished, but so too did his sense of responsibility, especially when it came to his siblings—or rather, the shadows of siblings he sometimes imagined playing in the corners of his room. The idea of brothers and sisters was a curious mix of longing and contentment in his single-child existence.

The first significant challenge of Aurren's young life came when he lost his favorite model starship, a gift from his Uncle Sal, who regaled Aurren with tales of adventure and valor within the Imperial Fleet. This model was more than a toy; it was a symbol of the dreams and aspirations that Aurren harbored within his young heart. Its loss during a bustling market day was a tragedy that struck deep, teaching Aurren his first harsh lessons in loss and the impermanence of material possessions. The incident sparked a deeper appreciation for the intangible bonds of family and the stories that connected them to the galaxy at large.

This period also marked the emergence of Aurren's leadership qualities. With or without siblings, he often found himself in the role of protector and guide among his peers, displaying a natural aptitude for leadership that didn't go unnoticed by his teachers and parents. His ability to navigate the complexities of childhood friendships and rivalries with empathy and fairness hinted at the great leader he was destined to become.

Shaping Destiny

Aurren & Uncle Sal

As Aurren Takla navigated the turbulent waters of his early teenage years, his Uncle Sal emerged as a beacon of inspiration and guidance. Sal's sporadic visits from his duties in the Imperial Fleet brought tales of distant worlds and the intricate balance of power and diplomacy. These stories fascinated Aurren, providing a window into a life far removed from the commerce and trade of Coruscant.

Uncle Sal, recognizing Aurren's sharp intellect and boundless curiosity, began to mentor him. He introduced Aurren to basic navigation and the principles of starship engineering, turning their sessions into a cherished ritual. These lessons transcended the mechanics of space travel, instilling in Aurren a sense of purpose and a deeper understanding of the Empire's vastness and its challenges. While mostly just fascinating wartime stories back then, his uncle’s stories about the often long and challenging build wars at Ralltiir and within the Churnis Sector, the rebel attack on Trellen and the minor incidents in Alsakan - today almost myths within the Imperial military - turned out to be some of the most valuable lessons in Aurren’s later career.

A pivotal moment came when Aurren, driven by a desire to make a mark on the galaxy, spearheaded a community project. It was a daring initiative to improve local infrastructure, demonstrating his potential as a leader and organizer. Sal's pride in Aurren's accomplishment was evident, reinforcing the bond between them and cementing Aurren's resolve to pursue a path that could change the galaxy for the better.

Yet, it was also a time of internal struggle for Aurren. The expectation to join Takla Trading loomed large, clashing with his growing ambition to carve out his own destiny. Uncle Sal became a confidant, offering wisdom that balanced ambition with the importance of roots and belonging. Through their conversations, Aurren began to envision a future where his actions could bridge the worlds of business and imperial service, leveraging his unique skills and insights for the greater good.

This left a lot of uncertainty in Aurren's thoughts. He respected his parents immensely, but his bond with his uncle Sal Takla was allowing him to see possibilities beyond his family restraints. His interest in being stuck was minimal and he yearned to see the stars outside his family's home.

Family Betrayal

Obituary image of Sal Takla

Year 16, Day 312, marked the beginning of this pivotal chapter. Commodore Sal Takla, a seasoned officer respected by his peers for his integrity and valor and uncle to Aurren, was enjoying a rare respite from duty. The galaxy seemed a vast expanse of possibility and adventure for both Sal and Aurren, who idolized his uncle's commitment to order and justice. Their brief moments of peace were spent on leave, exploring the cosmos beyond the confines of duty and rank—a freedom that was as fleeting as it was cherished.

It was during one such expedition that the fabric of Aurren's world was irrevocably torn. Bisk Marlowe, a fellow officer and someone they both considered a friend, orchestrated a sinister betrayal. In a stunning act of treachery, Marlowe kidnapped Sal, leveraging their trust to deliver him into the hands of the Eidola Pirates—a ruthless band known for their anarchic crusade against the structures Sal had sworn to uphold.

The news of Sal's abduction sent shockwaves through Aurren's reality, each ripple a harbinger of the darkness that had crept into his life. The betrayal was a wound, but what followed was a devastation that would leave an indelible mark on his soul. The Eidola Pirates, in a display of cruel spectacle, executed Sal Takla, broadcasting their deed across the holonet as a message to their adversaries.

For Aurren, the loss was a crucible, transforming grief into a hardened resolve. The injustice of Sal's death, compounded by the betrayal of a trusted friend, became the catalyst for his future. It wasn't just the loss of family that drove Aurren; it was the shattering of an ideal, the realization that the galaxy was a place where chaos could triumph over order, where loyalty could be upended by treachery.

In the aftermath, Aurren's path became clear. Joining the Galactic Empire was no longer a choice but a necessity—a means to combat the disorder that had claimed Sal's life. Aurren saw in the Empire the embodiment of the order Sal had aspired to protect, a force capable of imposing structure on the chaos that had robbed him of the most influential figure in his life. In the light of these events, Aurren finished his studies of advanced management at the Coruscant University with excellent results, but unlike his family expected, did not return to his family and a bright career as entrepreneur and heir of the family business.

Aurren's commitment to the Empire was more than a career; it was a personal crusade to honor Sal's memory, to ensure that his death would not be in vain. Every step Aurren took within the ranks, every victory secured, and every enemy vanquished was a tribute to Sal, a testament to the principles he had lived by.

The Forge of Prakith

In the shadowed depths of the Imperial Academy on Prakith, where ancient structures towered like silent sentinels of a bygone era, Aurren Takla found himself amid the crucible that would forge him into an officer of the Galactic Empire. The campus, a labyrinth of history and power, became his world, its halls echoing with the footsteps of those who sought to mold the future through discipline and might.

The Imperial Basic Training was rigorous, designed to strip away the individual and rebuild them as a paragon of efficiency and loyalty. Aurren, among his peers, faced challenges designed to test their limits and beyond. Each lecture, simulation, and drill pushed him closer to the ideal of an Imperial officer, but it was the strategy simulations that tested him most acutely.

Tasked with orchestrating a complex supply chain for a hypothetical military campaign, Aurren's decisions held the weight of virtual lives and the success of the operation. The watchful eyes of Instructor Titus Solomon, whose approval was as rare as it was coveted, were ever-present, adding pressure to the already daunting task. Solomon, a man of few words, commanded respect and fear in equal measure among the recruits, his approval a coveted badge of honor.

The simulation, however, took an unexpected turn with the introduction of pirate raids on the supply routes. A scenario introduced by Solomon to test adaptability, it sent Aurren's initial plans into disarray. As frustration mounted, the ticking clock of the simulation became a relentless adversary, each passing second a reminder of the dwindling time and his failing strategy.

In a moment of clarity, Aurren remembered a lecture on unconventional warfare tactics from the College of Space Warfare. With little time for hesitation, he shifted his approach, employing guerrilla tactics and decoys to mislead and deter the pirate threats. It was a risky maneuver, deviating far from the conventional strategies drilled into them by the Academy. Yet, it was precisely this unorthodox approach that Solomon sought in his students.

As the simulation concluded, Aurren awaited Solomon's judgment with a mix of dread and hope. The nod of approval he received was subtle, yet it filled him with a sense of accomplishment few other moments could match. It was a testament to his growth, his ability to think critically and adapt to the unpredictable nature of galactic conflicts. This moment, under the ancient spires of Prakith, marked a turning point for Aurren, embedding in him the values of flexibility and innovative thinking that would guide his career in the Empire.

The Illuminated Path

Young Aurren Takla at College of Engineering

As the relentless winds of Glakka swept across the campus of the College of Engineering, Aurren Takren stood contemplating the complex machineries and technologies that surrounded him. This was a world away from the strict military discipline of the Imperial Academy, yet it was here, among the schematics and prototypes, that Aurren found a new battlefield to conquer.

The challenge presented to him and his fellow students was daunting: to design a sustainable power grid for an Imperial outpost on a remote, hostile world. It was a task that demanded not only engineering acumen but also an understanding of the unpredictable elements of alien environments. Aurren delved into the project with an intensity that matched his dedication at the Academy, his mind alive with equations, energy flows, and the potential of renewable resources.

The oversight of Professor Helena Var Sook, a pioneering engineer known for her breakthroughs in energy efficiency within the Ministry of Industry, added an additional layer of pressure. Var Sook, with her innovative approach to engineering challenges and her insistence on practical, real-world applications, was a demanding mentor. Her expectations were sky-high, and her feedback was incisive, driving Aurren and his team to excel beyond their limits.

The project evolved, with Aurren leading the charge against the myriad of obstacles that emerged. It was a test of their resilience, innovation, and collaborative spirit, as they had to account for the erratic climate of the planet, the scarcity of materials, and the energy demands of an Imperial stronghold. Each hurdle became a learning opportunity, each failure a catalyst for further refinement.

A breakthrough occurred when Aurren introduced a radical concept: the integration of a series of geothermal plants with advanced wind turbine networks, leveraging the planet's inherent geothermal activity and high-velocity winds. This ambitious plan was fraught with complexities and the potential for failure, yet it was exactly this kind of audacious thinking that intrigued Var Sook.

Guided by her expertise, Aurren and his team embarked on an exhaustive series of simulations, adjustments, and field tests. The process was exhausting, stretching their capabilities to the limit, but it was also invigorating. With each successful test, they edged closer to a feasible solution, their team spirit solidified by the shared pursuit of excellence.

The culmination of their efforts was a comprehensive presentation before Var Sook and a panel of esteemed Imperial evaluators. Standing at the forefront, Aurren articulated the logic behind their design, its implications for the Empire's strategic interests, and the sustainability of their innovative power solution. Through this experience, he realized the profound impact of his time at the College of Engineering: it was about transcending academic exercises to contribute meaningfully to the Empire's enduring legacy.

Receiving Var Sook’s affirming nod at the presentation's end was the validation Aurren sought. He had not only met the project's stringent criteria but had also demonstrated his potential to play a significant role in the Empire's future endeavors. Exiting the hall, the chilling winds of Glakka felt somewhat warmer, buoyed by his sense of achievement and the anticipation of future challenges that lay ahead in his service to the Galactic Empire.

First Days: A Remembrance

ceremony.png
Young Aurren Takla honored with Sal Takla's awards

It was a day marked by the Empire's commitment to honoring its heroes, not just in memory but in the tangible recognition of their valor. Within the grandeur of the Imperial Palace, a gathering of the Empire's most esteemed figures was assembled to witness the posthumous awarding of Sal Takla's commendations, a solemn tribute to a fallen hero. In his stead, his nephew, Aurren Takla, was to accept these honors, each a testament to the unwavering dedication and sacrifice Sal had made in service to the Empire.

As Aurren entered the ceremonial hall, the weight of the moment settled upon him, a blend of pride and poignant reflection. The grandiosity of the setting—a place where the very pillars seemed to whisper the tales of the galaxy's storied past—served as a stark reminder of the enormity of the legacy he was about to inherit. The air was charged with a solemn reverence as Emperor Seele took to the podium, his presence commanding attention, his words poised to bridge the chasm between loss and honor.

"Today," the Emperor intoned, "we stand united not in grief, but in recognition of indomitable courage and unwavering service. Commodore Sal Takla, whose memory we honor, epitomized the ideals upon which our Empire stands. His legacy is not dimmed by his absence but magnified by the honors we bestow upon him today."

One by one, the Emperor called forth the awards, each a beacon of Sal's heroism and a symbol of his indelible mark upon the fabric of the Empire. The Letter of Commendation, for acts of notable service; the Imperial Activity Medal, marking his tireless dedication; the Navy Cross, a testament to valor in the face of adversity; and the Certified Imperial Intelligence Agent, denoting his cunning and ingenuity.

Further, the Group Command Medal and the Intelligence Service Award were announced, highlighting his leadership and contribution to the Empire's strategic victories. The Imperial Service Medal and the Medal of Support followed, underscoring his commitment and the diverse ways in which he bolstered the Empire's might.

With each award that Aurren accepted on his uncle's behalf, a bond was forged—not just between him and the memory of Sal but with the very essence of the Empire itself. The medals, each imbued with stories of sacrifice, courage, and unwavering duty, were now his to carry forward, a perpetual reminder of the legacy entrusted to him.

As the ceremony concluded, the hall erupted in a respectful ovation, a collective acknowledgment of a hero's journey and the promise of continuity through those he inspired. Aurren, now a custodian of his uncle's legacy, felt a resolve stirring within him. The awards, symbols of his uncle's valor, were now beacons guiding him on his path.

In this moment of homage, the Galactic Empire did more than remember a fallen hero; it reaffirmed the enduring spirit of its people, ready to face the galaxy's tumult with the same resolve and dedication exemplified by Sal Takla. For Aurren, this ceremony was not an end but a beginning, the first step in a commitment to uphold the values his uncle had lived and died for, ensuring that his sacrifice would continue to illuminate the path for all who serve the Empire.

The Ascent at Axum

engineer.png
Young Aurren Takla in IMC

Axum stood as a crucial node in the vast network of IMC. The mining hub, nestled among the industrious worlds of the Core, was vital yet languishing under the weight of outdated practices and inefficiency. It was here that Aurren Takren's journey took a pivotal turn, a journey not just of ambition, but of personal redemption and tribute to his late Uncle Sal Takla, whose memory fueled his resolve.

Aurren's arrival at Axum was met with a mix of skepticism and indifference. The mining hub, a sprawling complex of machinery and manpower, had long been mired in a quagmire of bureaucratic inertia and technological obsolescence. The workforce, a diverse tapestry of species from across the galaxy, had grown accustomed to the slow rhythm of inefficiency that pervaded their daily operations. It was against this backdrop that Aurren, with the determined gleam of ambition in his eyes, set about his task.

Jai Meridan, the Executive Director of the IMC, had taken a keen interest in Aurren. Meridan, a figure of authority and vision within the Empire, saw in Aurren not just a promising officer but a symbol of the Empire's relentless pursuit of excellence. It was under Meridan's guidance that Aurren embarked on his mission to transform Axum, armed with innovative ideas and a deep-seated desire to honor the legacy of his uncle.

The challenges Aurren faced were manifold. Resistance from entrenched interests within the hub, skepticism from his peers, and the daunting task of modernizing an entire mining operation. But Aurren approached these obstacles with a blend of tenacity and strategic acumen. He introduced cutting-edge mining technologies, streamlined the hub's operational workflow, and embarked on a rigorous campaign to foster a culture of dedication and efficiency among the workforce.

His efforts were not without missteps. An ambitious project to implement a new ore processing system encountered technical failures, threatening to undermine his early successes. Yet, it was in these moments of adversity that Aurren's leadership shone brightest. Drawing on his uncle's teachings—Sal had always emphasized the importance of resilience and ingenuity in the face of hardship—Aurren led his team in overcoming the setbacks, turning potential failure into a testament to their collective resolve.

Victories began to mount. The hub's output increased exponentially, setting new records for efficiency and production. Aurren's innovations became a model for other operations within the IMC, and his reputation as a transformative leader grew. But beyond the accolades and achievements, it was the sense of purpose that drove Aurren—a purpose rooted in his uncle's memory and the broader ambitions of the Empire.

As he stood overlooking the vast expanse of the Axum mining operations, now a humming engine of imperial progress, Aurren couldn't help but reflect on the journey that had brought him here. The loss of his uncle Sal had been a crucible, forging him into a servant of the Empire, dedicated to its ideals and its relentless pursuit of order and prosperity.

Climbing the Ladder

While Aurren faced the challenges of managing the modernized hub at Axum, implementing it into the structures of IMC Northern Core Hubs and expanding newly developed processes to the outpost at nearby Tremaal, the structure of the Ministry of Industry itself was changed. The retirement of Minister Saedrial Elensar had an impact not only on leadership, but down to the work of the lower ranks. As the Emperor decided to leave the industrial heart in the more than capable hands of Minister Jai Meridan, and following a massive plan to renew leadership all across the Ministry, positions had to be filled not only in IMC, but in all Nationalized Factions of the Empire. This change was the very basis for several long lasting and successful careers as staff members - often too long on their desks, inefficient and sometimes at the brink of open corruption - were replaced by fresh, loyal and dedicated officers. Minister Meridans changes did not only promote Aurren to the position of Executive Director of the Imperial Mining Corporation, but were also the foundation for the impressive careers of Marcus Elensar, Everard de Montfort and Lirri Elysar.

All together, this new team of leaders ended inefficiency, corruption and mismanagement within the Ministry of Industry. Aurrens new position did not only provide an important milestone in his career, but also a number of challenges. The footsteps left by his predecessor seemed huge, but he saw them as a challenge. Over the course of two years, Aurren traveled the Empire without a break, improving existing hubs in the Southern Core Regions of the Tapani Oversector and building up new ones in the Rim Territories, all of them still being key hubs and sources of strategic reserves of their respective areas today.

However, the expansion of mining hubs was not the only challenge to be mastered. As directed by the Throne, this period of renewal also saw the demand for Nationalized Factions to reach financial independence from the Empire, to no longer be a burden to the Imperial Treasury. Being at peace under the Imperial Order, the Empire attracted more and more immigrants from the less civilized regions of the galaxy. Billions of sentients looking for homes and workplaces under the protection of the Galactic Empire. For IMC and Aurren this meant the development of new centers of civilization. Using the infrastructure created by himself at Axum, it was decided to turn planet Phlors Rex into a prospering world and a symbol of Imperial supremacy. Simultaneously, Takla led the completion of a similar, yet smaller development project at Delphon and the assistance projects for Imperial Munitions in system Mawan. Those projects had their counterparts in other Nationalized factions as well, increasing the pressure on Aurren and “his” Imperial Mining Corporation. His ability to cover all tasks, and to constantly learn and adapt however granted him a reputation as a capable manager and reliable leader. Something that would be tested soon.

The Build Wars: Securing Hosnian

executive-director.png
Aurren Takla blueprinting the Hosnian Build Wars

The galaxy was a vast chessboard, its stars and planets the pieces in an unending game of power and conquest. Among these, the Hosnian system emerged as a critical square, a prize that promised strategic advantage and resources to whomever could claim it. The discovery of the system had set off a frenzied rush among the galaxy's factions, a rush that the Galactic Empire was determined to win.

Being quickly recognized as a massive challenge, the task to secure this system right next to the Imperial border and still close to the Core Regions required the combined efforts of all Imperial branches. As for that, the Imperial Army and Navy, the Regional Government and for the first time after years, the Ministry of Industry were tasked to enforce and defend the Emperor's claims on this system. Given his position as Executive Director of the Empire’s main raw material provider and his reputation as manager and coordinator, Minister Daelis Stanov, who had succeeded Minister Meridan after his promotion to the position of Grand Vizier, ordered Aurren Takla to coordinate the logistics and supply operations.

The build wars, as they had come to be known, were a complex dance of logistics, strategy, and sheer willpower, requiring a mastery of both military tactics and industrial coordination. Aurren was not alone in this endeavor. He was Supported by a cadre of the Empire's finest, Legion and Fleet officers, his peers from the Ministry and even allied forces such as CorSec and the Faerytail Family.

The Empire's rivals were numerous, each with their own designs on Hosnian. Among them, the Rebel Alliance and various pirate factions posed the most significant threat. It was a race against time, with each faction deploying fleets and ground teams to establish bases and mining operations across the system's planets.

Aurren's strategy hinged on a different approaches. Militarily, he coordinated with the Empire's fleets to secure space superiority, relying on precise, lightning-fast strikes to neutralize opposition before it could entrench. On the strategic (industrial) front, he leveraged both RGOV’s and the Ministry’s resources to rapidly increase mining output and coordinated transports from across the Region into the combat zone. On the tactical level, Aurren was forced to coordinate the front line supply with materials, personnel and ships, balancing between the operational planning and quick reactions to enemy advances.

The challenges were immense. The Hosnian system was vast, its planets diverse in geography and environmental conditions. Aurren and his team had to contend with hostile terrain, unpredictable weather patterns, and the constant threat of sabotage from enemy factions. Yet, they pressed on, driven by a vision of the Hosnian system as an Imperial bastion, a jewel in the Empire's crown.

The build wars were marked by moments of both triumph and tribulation. A critical victory came when Aurren's forces managed to secure Hosnian Prime, the system's central planet. It was a hard-fought battle, with Aurren personally overseeing the deployment of the final components of a massive industrial complex that would serve as the heart of the Empire's operations in the system.

Yet, the campaign was not without its losses. A covert assault by Rebel saboteurs resulted in the destruction of a key supply depot on one of the outer planets, a setback that cost the Empire valuable time and resources. Aurren felt each loss acutely, a reminder of the stakes involved in their endeavor.

Through it all, Aurren remained unwavering in his commitment. He drew strength from the memory of his Uncle Sal, whose fate at the hands of the Eidola Pirates had first spurred Aurren's journey into the heart of the Empire. Securing the Hosnian system was more than a strategic objective; it was a personal crusade, a way to honor his uncle's memory by advancing the cause for which he had given his life. Inspired by this, Aurren decided to get involved in direct action as well. Despite not being a specialized combat trooper or a field agent, Takla volunteered to lead several raids against rebel facilities when armed forces were not available. After several weeks of the tough and brutal battle, the Executive Director was often seen with a blaster in one hand and a communication device in the other, coordinating arriving Mammoths and departing Bulk Freighters while under fire. It was during this heated phase of the fighting when Aurren saved about four hundred workers from rebel death squadrons with a last minute evacuation from planet Courtsilius.

The culmination of the build wars came with the Empire's declaration of sovereignty over the Hosnian system. It was a moment of triumph, not just for Aurren but for the entire Imperial effort. Yet, for Aurren, it was also a moment of reflection. In the silent spaces between the stars, he pondered the cost of their victory, the sacrifices made, and the path that lay ahead.

Securing the Hosnian system had proven Aurren Takren's mettle, solidifying his reputation as one of the Empire's most capable and determined officers.

The Build Wars: Riots at Corellia

With the end of the Battle of Hosnian, Aurren Takla returned to his more calm duties as leader of the Imperial Mining Corporation. While Hosnian was considered a success, the long lasting battle had taken its toll. A phase of reorganization and restoration was needed to resume regular operations. With that in mind, Aurren did not move far away from the now calm battlegrounds. IMCs hub at Tinnel had been used as the key base for operations at Hosnian, being the last stop in Imperial territory before the vast and dangerous combat zone. Following the lessons learned at Hosnian, Takla decided to personally oversee the rebuilding of this hub, expanding IMCs operations in this system and in nearby Condular. Unfortunately, this expected period of peace did not last long as the forces of CorSec, led by their misguided leader Neria Derycke, attempted to take control of several systems within the Corellian Oversector. As with Hosnian, the Imperial answer to this uprising was massive, reflecting the challenge of fighting back simultaneous attacks in several systems. Once again, the combined forces of the Imperial Military, Regional Government and the Ministry of Industry - which had earned a new reputation as professional and most active branch - were called back to the area.

Again the task was huge, not only coordinating operations among different branches, but this time dealing with worn off resources and massively reduced stocks, especially in Regional Government. Aurrens reputation once more dragged him into the position of logistics coordinator, but this time his superiors decided that he should not only face the challenges, but additionally provide advice to future RGOV leaders. Together with Phaedra Tester, later appointed as Grand Moff of the Capital Region, Takla again led the Industrial part of the grander Imperial operation. Being battle-hardened and experienced from Hosnian, the fight against the rioting mercenary group was intense and brutal, but ended quickly. The Empire’s efforts once more led to success, even though some planets were lost. Overall, peace and order were restored, but the price had been high. Not only had Imperial reserves been almost depleted again, even Aurren had suffered from this riot after years of working closely with selected individuals from CorSec. As a result of this insurrection and the chaos of it, Aurren to cut his ties to Jeff Kronn, a highly skilled and professional developer of CorSec who had been tricked into following Derycke’s lies. It took years to redeem Kronns guilt, to restore his relation with the Empire and to ultimately strengthen the bond with Aurren.

OqFIdK4.png Regional Government

A Hard Decision

In the light of the two major battles, ED Takla had gained insight into the works and procedures of the Regional Government. With more than three years as head of the Imperial Mining Corporation, he noticed flaws and results of bad decisions, but was unable to correct them as an outsider. It was a tough decision to make - should he return to his work in IMC, overseeing a well-oiled machine and continue to work in a branch that knew his value and skill? Or should he try to transfer his experience into a branch that apparently needed some fresh thinking and new ideas? Could Aurren contribute to the Empire’s success more than before or would he fail and end up trapped in the bureaucracy and hierarchy of the government? Would his expertise in raw materials and planet development be enough for a leading position in RGOV? It wasn’t an easy choice and took long discussions with his mentor and friend, Grand Vizier Jai Meridan. Takla’s transfer would leave a gap that his Chief Operations Officer Marius Moto had to fill, but the events at Corellia had left the Oversector in a dismal state. With that in mind, Aurren decided to request a transfer to RGOV.

So it came that in Y21 D278, Aurren Takla ended his career in the Ministry of Industry with receiving the Ministerial Cross as recognition for his contributions and becoming a Deputy Governor in the Corellian Oversector.

Governor of the Corellian Oversector

Aurren Takla as Deputy Governor

Aurrens transfer to Regional Government went smoothly, but confronted him with plenty of challenges. In the aftermath of two major conflicts, the Corellian Oversector had suffered a lot and thus needed an awful lot of work. At the same time, Aurren had to get used to a much stronger hierarchy with fewer liberties than he had as Executive Director. He found himself in a system that was set in ancient structures, often having gaps in key positions after the removal of the previous leaders. A lack of coordination on a more global level had promoted inefficient processes and often useless procedures.

While adapting to the struggles of bureaucracy, Takla developed plans to establish logistics hubs to prepare the Oversector for the future. Quite often, all work had to be done from scratch and even caused conflicts with his former colleagues in the Ministry. The negotiations about the shared use of Tinnel as key hub for both IMC and RGOV were a test of his loyalty between his new branch and his old corporation. Fortunately, he was supported by others open to new ideas and concepts, such as his later successor as Oversector Governor, August Cain. It took Aurren a full year of hard and tireless work to establish a new system of hubs, strategic resources and asset management within RGOV, often battling resistance within the branch. However, his efforts were rewarded when Emperor Seele announced the reorganization of the Regional Government in Y22.

Governor of the Ruby Region

Y22 D282 marked major changes to the Galactic Empire’s structure, although unnoticed by the wider public. Emperor Seeles reforms did not only move borders between Regions, but also renewed leadership positions and authorities. As part of that, Aurren Takla was appointed as Grand Moff of the Ruby Region and given command over the Corellian and Tapani Oversector as well as the Southern part of the former Deep Core Oversector. Still being considered to be new to Regional Government, Aurren had to expand his successfully applied concepts from Corellian Oversector into the others, train new command staff and also convince senior members. On top of that, he also had to rely once more on the knowledge provided by his uncle to complement his advisors suggestions to lead the Ruby Task Force.

Although having been a capable leader, experienced with mastering challenges, this became a serious test and another lesson to learn. For the first time in years, Takla had to rely far more than before on others which often felt like reducing attention to detail to him. It did however not take long for him to realize that he was the leader of a skilled and professional team he could rely on. Mordus Nordstroem, later appointed Grand Moff of the Amber Region quickly became his right hand, while the Oversectors were commanded under Aurrens direction by Governors Cain and Gauge. Admiral Shonblam Dacar, who later became his Regional Coordinator, turned out to be a skilled and dedicated commander of the Task Force.

With this team on his side, Grand Moff Takla managed to achieve major milestones with his Region. Ruby was not only the first Region to host a new, huge industrial center, but also implemented structural improvements planned and executed under the lead of Grand Vizier Meridan. At the same time and as directed by Empress Ventidius, the Region was the first to complete the construction of defensive stations in all systems, fortifying the Empire’s Southern borders.

Aurrens tasks did however not end with the sheer execution of tasks given by superiors. Blessed with an excellent team of advisors and adjutants, he was even able to invest time into developing new concepts to establish a full network of garrisons across his Region; later copied by Amber and Emerald. Additionally, Takla set up the basics for in system cargo transports executed by contractors and tested and advised both RADE and Military Command in regards to the introduction of advanced field repair procedures and the installation of guard posts.

His contributions as Grand Moff were recognized with two Achievement Medals, membership in the Order of the Imperial Sea, the Government Administration Medal, the Imperial Bronze Star, the Departmental Distinguished Service Medal and two Letters of Commendation.
