Colonel Amne Zailyn is an Imperial Army officer. Early in her military career, Zailyn distinguished herself as the commanding officer of the 5th Brigade. She went on to serve Army Command as the Army Signals Officer.

Biography

Amne Zailyn was born in Year -12 to conservative nobles of the Hapes Consortium. Zailyn spent her early years in the Hapes Cluster, traveling with her parents as part of the royal court and when visiting relatives in other sectors—notably Kuat, Corellia and Tapani. Betrothed to her paternal cousin four years her senior, Zailyn was sent to Procopia at the age of five to spend the next sixteen years at the Tapani court. She, along with her cousin, was meticulously educated by teachers who believed that learning should be engaging and groomed to take her place in court as the wife of a Tapani lord. Zailyn was influenced early in life by the ideals espoused by Emperor Charon, which later motivated her to become an Imperial.

Zailyn married her cousin, Lord Tarquin Dermot, at the age of fifteen and gave birth to their son at nineteen. Their marriage ended prematurely with Dermot's death in Year 9. Friction between Zailyn and her mother in law, who grieved the loss of her only child by being overly possessive of her grandson, resulted in Zailyn's forced return to the Hapes Cluster before her son's third birthday.

"This is the Spirit of The Immortals - that no matter what Catastrophies strike us, we will stubbornly rise from the ashes and flap our wings, unleashing our fearless spirit against the enemies of the Empire with the power of the Phoenix!"
Dragomir Kies[1]

Upon her return, Zailyn enlisted in the Royal Hapan Navy and notably served in a joint operation with the forces of the Imperial Navy, where she became acquainted with Ninian DeLayn and Alexander Kuhn. These friendships later prompted her to make the life-changing decision to enlist in the Imperial Army. Upon her completion of basic training at the Imperial Academy, Zailyn was promoted to Master Sergeant and assigned to serve in the 1st Imperial Legion, headquartered in the Coruscant Oversector, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Califf D`Troit. She quickly got to know her fellow legionnaires, including Elvira Falston, Dragomir Kies, Santiano Salazar, Felix Stones, Dante Erinith, Kol Seraph, Tamarynn Farr, Igneus Esh, and Redme Schwarz. As she concealed her noble birth, several rumors were spread to explain Zailyn's promotion to Master Sergeant—among them being that she'd burned down an orphanage housing Jedi younglings[2]—but they eventually faded into obscurity.

Zailyn was assigned to the Sabres and sent to scout for any signs of rebel bases or hostile armies. The Sabres found and captured a number of hostiles that had established hidden bases throughout the system and retook some occupied Imperial buildings. The Immortals took it upon themselves to map their assigned sectors, marking potential microjump points and updating the political maps of the planets. They were commended with special recognition upon the conclusion of Operation Blitz, after the inspection of 4 systems with 30 planets in total.

"Wouldn't your cover be more secure if you had an escort of men? It'd play into the Rim system stereotype that the culture of the Galactic Core is decadent, given to engaging in unnatural activities for the sake of fashion."
Euna Miriel to Daelis Stanov after learning of the nature of their assignment[3]

After a sabbatical on Corellia, Zailyn was unexpectedly assigned to pose as an escort for Stanov, an II agent undercover as a wealthy businessman offering to sell Imperial supplies to a warlord of Garos, and tasked to protect computer specialist Thalia Brando as she covertly extracted data from the warlord's mainframe computer. It was during this assignment that she first became close to Euna Miriel, who she later dated.

"Amne Zailyn — the capable and ambitious commander of the 5th Brigade, whose lasting contributions to that unit and to the Legion cannot be tidily summarized."
— Brigadier General David Terrio[4]

Zailyn led the reconnaissance battalion of the 1st Brigade until Colonel David Terrio of the 2nd Imperial Legion offered her a command position in the 5th Brigade. She accepted, later commenting that she found it fitting that the two units were steeped in fiery symbolism: the Immortals' perpetually rekindling phoenix and the pure conflagration of the Inferno. She traveled to her new brigade's headquarters in the Corporate Sector and began to work closely with 1st Lieutenant Deryk Ysenm as his executive officer. Zailyn was soon awarded an MID, a testament to her seamless integration into the reconnaissance brigade, and found herself so impressed by the leadership displayed by Lieutenant Ysenm and Colonel Terrio that she came to consider a life-long career in the Army. When Captain Ysenm retired from military service, 2nd Lieutenant Zailyn succeeded him as the commanding officer of the 5th Brigade and resolved to follow his example to the best of her ability. She came to work more closely with Brigadier General Terrio and Major Agramon Kane, who graciously sent his most experienced officer, Colonel Wyatt Gabriel, to serve as her executive officer. Zailyn returned the favor six months later when she sent one of her best, 2nd Lieutenant Ivy Yethoron, to serve as the executive officer of the 2nd Brigade.

Throughout her service to the 5th Brigade, Zailyn made time to spend with her girlfriend Euna Miriel, who by then had returned to active service in the Imperial Army as the commanding officer of the 3rd Brigade. Despite the physical distance between them, they grew closer and more committed. In Year 13, Zailyn changed her permanent residence to the Scheherezade, the C-3 registered to her and Miriel. At the end of the year, Zailyn and Miriel received notice that their brigades would be among those deployed to the war-torn surface of Derra IV.

Miriel was much changed by the suffering she'd undergone and witnessed during the first rotation of Operation Sovereign Canopy, known to have contained the fiercest and most stubbornly contested battles against the Galactic Alliance on Derra IV. Though they were grateful to be reunited when Zailyn arrived as part of the second rotation, it was not an occasion that they remembered fondly.

Zailyn served as an operational commander during the 2nd Legion's deployment, invested with the authority to command and direct all active Imperial forces on Derra IV in the absence of Lieutenant Colonel Kane. Their joint deployments with the 1st and 3rd Legions allowed her to work with commanders from those legions such as Colonel Edward Canfield, Lieutenant Colonel Santiano Salazar, Major Akai Ai, Captain Tyrren Montari, Captain Lane Rendell, Captain Navarro de Molay, 1st Lieutenant Cora Ersin, 1st Lieutenant Redme Schwarz and Command Sergeant Benedict Tharandon. She was awarded a letter of commendation for her efforts, and she was promoted to Major in recognition of her time served and the exemplary nature of that service, both as commander of the 5th Brigade and of the joint forces on Derra IV.[5]

By mid-Year 14, Zailyn and Miriel were engaged and expecting their first child together.[2] As the child was conceived via genetic tailoring, the couple knew that they would be having a daughter. Soon after Miriel's pregnancy was confirmed, she tendered her resignation as the Army Logistics Officer and moved to the Scheherezade to Corporate space in order to be nearer to Zailyn as they prepared for their impending marriage. As a favor to Zailyn, Governor Everard de Montfort arranged to have their Imperial Relocation Form RG-5 for the C-3 processed far more quickly than usual.[2]

Titles and styles

  • Lady Amne Zailyn (Year -12 Day 76 – Present)
